eCom Technology is a specially designed, cost-effective, wireless solution for the growing need to monitor, verify presence and track the where-abouts of moving objects and people, such as children on the way and at school, of employees on premises, waste pits being handled by waste trucks, assets in warehouses or lifted by lorries and many more moving-object related applications.
eCom Technology was designed to offer a better fit alternative to RFID technology.

How does it work?

The solution consists of an eCom Tag (active) and an eCom Receiver connected to a StarLink tracking device.

Using ERM’s intelligence algorithm, the eCom Tag will report its presence to the eCom Receiver based on certain conditions, such as time of the day or location.
The eCom Receiver will then report the identified tag ID to the server using the StarLink tracking device communication protocol.

There are two types of eCom Receiver:

  • Standard: a simple reader designed to report each tag captured in the vicinity of the server
  • Smart: An advanced receiver designed to host different algorithms for each niche. For example:
    • BUS – Algorithm designed to identify children/students tags on a bus. BUS will report only the tags boarded or currently on the bus and the ones that got off the bus at every station location
    • BIN – Algorithm designed to identify waste bins being handled by waste trucks

There are many applications to use eCom Technology for, here are a few of them for example:

Children Attendance Solution

Many of our children are being driven to school and back by a school bus. We all share a common interest to ensure a safe trip hence, the Children Attendance solution. Based on ERM’s eCom technology, the solution ensures that our children are on the bus at the expected station and that they are off the bus at school.

How does it work?

Each child is equipped with an active eCom Tag, and each Bus is equipped with eCom Reader connected to a StarLink tracking device. Using ERM’s intelligence protocol the eCom Tag will report its presence to the reader. The eCom Reader will log the ID and report to the server via ERM StarLink tracking device upon certain conditions which are presented by ERM protocol. All time stamps and locations of each kid boarding and getting off the bus is recorded in real-time. This process will ensure parents will know the child has boarded or arrived safely to his destination. At the school gates, another eCom Reader can be installed together with a StarLink tracking device in order to enable additional reporting on who entered / exited the school gate and when.

Waste Management Solution

City waste management has never been so simple.. ! Based on ERM’s eCom technology, ERM offers a specially designed, cost-effective solution for the growing need to monitor and verify waste bins handling. ERM solution for waste management removes the hassle of trying to monitor which waste bin was handled and when, by the City Waste Management Department while improving the service and its reliability. ERM solution is specifically designed to report and automatically log the pickup of each bin, handled by the pickup truck in real-time.

How does it work?

Each bin is equipped with an active eCom Tag, and each pickup truck is equipped with eCom Reader together with a StarLink tracking device. Using ERM’s intelligence protocol, the eCom Tag will report its presence to the reader as soon as it is picked up. The eCom Reader will log the ID and report it to the server via the ERM StarLink tracking device based on specific conditions preset by ERM protocol.

Employee Attendance Solution

How does it work?

In order to monitor the where about of each employee on the premises, each employee is equipped with an active eCom Tag. The eCom Tag can be printed with the employee picture, name and role and whatever information needed.

Around the premises, eCom Readers with StarLink tracking devices are installed – at the entrance, in meeting rooms, in the parking lots etc.

Once on the move, eCom Tag is identified by the eCom Reader that sends its location and time stamp to the server. The operation is completely automatic, so the employee will not need to swipe any card or actively do anything again, when entering and exiting the covered areas in the premises.
